Express ADHD Evaluations

You think you might have ADHD. You have been struggling to accomplish anything at home, and your work and your home life is suffering. You might bounce from one project to another, or you might just sit and daze off rather than being productive.  You might have been wondering about this for a while, or your PCP may have recently suggested psychological testing for ADHD.

Psychological testing is usually complex and comprehensive, but in some cases it doesn’t need to be. If your question is simply “Is it or isn’t it ADHD?” an Express ADHD Evaluation may be for you.

An Express ADHD Evaluation Consists of:

  1. One online appointment, which can typically be scheduled within 1-2 weeks. This appointment includes a clinical interview, standardized measures of symptoms, record review (if applicable) and a battery of neuropsychological measures which assesses attention in different ways to pinpoint attention difficulties.

  2. A written report of results 1 week after the appointment

  3. An explanation of results, with recommendations and next steps for suggested follow-up. The goal is that by the end of this process, you have a clear understanding of your attention-related strengths and needs and have a clear vision of what supports you might need moving forward.

  4. All work is completed by a licensed psychologist with more than 10 years’ experience of psychological testing in children and adults.

An Express ADHD Evaluation is appropriate for someone who needs a quick turnaround on results. It is targeted and efficient, and reports can be sent directly to your physician (at your request) to help coordinate care. It can help you gain insight into your functioning so you can do what’s best for you. It is sufficient for someone whose physician requested neuropsychological testing for attention problems to rule out ADHD. It is also appropriate for children over the age of 8 who have a 504 Plan in School and require medical documentation of an ADHD diagnosis.

An Express ADHD evaluation is not appropriate for young children—there are too many variables that affect young children’s attention, and a longer comprehensive evaluation is typically the best approach.
If someone needs documentation of a need for specific accommodations, such as extended time on tests or other accommodations for college or other testing situations, a more comprehensive testing battery is typically required. Many organizations and universities have specific requirements for documentation, including cognitive and academic assessments. We are able to do these types of evaluations, but they take more time and vary based on the requirements of the organization who is requesting an evaluation.

At times, an Express ADHD Evaluation may uncover a need for further psychological testing. If it is determined by the client and the provider that further testing is necessary, the evaluation can easily be incorporated into a more comprehensive evaluation (at additional expense). This is beneficial to the client in that they do not have to start from scratch with another provider.
Express ADHD Evaluations are private pay, and the fee of $750 is due at the time of service. A super-bill can be provided to clients who wish to submit documentation to their insurance company for reimbursement of out-of-network services.
