Information is Power: A psychological evaluation will either provide peace of mind or give you guidance for appropriate next steps.
For psychological evaluations, We provide:
An extensive diagnostic interview of the child or adult’s background and functioning.
A variety of standardized testing assessments to determine the information needed to inform a diagnosis.
All work done by an experienced psychologist in a comfortable setting.
An opportunity for parents to get their questions answered.
Recommendations for appropriate next steps.
Evaluations may take 2-3 sessions, the results of which are documented in a written report. Testing appointments are typically followed by a 1-hour informing appointment, when I go though the report and answer any questions about the evaluation. The price for a complete evaluation varies, depending on which testing is necessary.
Evaluation costs vary due to the number of assessments tools used and the time required to administer and interpret information. For this reason, more complicated evaluations have higher costs.
- Though private-pay evaluations can be more expensive up front, they can save you money by allowing you to access services more quickly and out-of-network benefits can make the costs of in- and out-of-network fairly comparable.
- Adult autism evaluation rates start at $1,860.
- Psychological evaluations for children and young adults (assessing one or multiple areas of functioning, such as learning disorder, autism & ADHD) are prorated based on time, with a maximum total cost of $6,200.
- For fixed-price evaluations, half of the total payment is due at the initial appointment, and the balance is due at the final appointment. For children, a $2,000 payment is due at the first appointment, and the balance is due at the final appointment before the report is finalized.
- At times, time spent may be less than anticipated and your price may be lower than the stated rates; this will be reflected on your final payment.
-
As required by federal law, good faith estimates are provided when appointments are scheduled.
For children under 6, testing must be in person, though parent interviews and informing can take place over telehealth. Older children can often be evaluated exclusively over telehealth
Forms of Payment Cash, check, and major credit cards are accepted. Payment is due at time of session. You can store a credit card on file in the client portal to make payments easy.
Therapy is an investment. For therapy clients, I provide:
In-person and tele-therapy sessions for convenience with scheduling and flexibility
A Client Portal to schedule appointments online, get online or email reminders, and securely text between sessions
Coordinating with other health & wellness providers if needed to ensure quality in your treatment
Insurance
We are not on any insurance panels and provide therapy and evaluations as out-of-network providers. Through your insurance, you may be eligible to receive reimbursement for our sessions. We can provide documentation of our work together that can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement. You can contact your health insurance provider to determine whether they will cover a portion of my fees as an out-of-network provider. Important information to understand is whether you have mental health insurance benefits, what benefits the company provides for out-of-network providers, how your deductible works, and how much they will cover per session.
Pre-tax dollars set aside for medical expenses in your Health Saving Account can be used for psychological services, regardless of whether you are using in- or out-of-network providers.
Why don’t we accept insurance?
Being an out of network provider allows us to provide quality care and flexibility with your treatment. It also provides you with confidentiality, as our treatment does not need to be audited or reported to an insurance company. Insurance companies reimburse psychologists very poorly for therapy and testing services, the result of which is professionals cutting corners, using students to do work, and being pushed into a lower standard of care.
By not working with insurance, We are able to ensure you the quality treatment you deserve.
