Second Opinion Autism Evaluations

ADULTS, CHILDREN & PDA

Second Opinion Autism Evaluations

Did your previous evaluation leave you with more questions than answers?

We specialize in second opinion autism evaluations for adults and children, including complex and often misunderstood profiles such as Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) and high-masking autism. We have extensive experience working with individuals whose neurodivergent profiles are frequently missed or misinterpreted, including women and girls, people of color, adoptees, and individuals who are transgender, nonbinary, or part of the LGBTQ+ community. Many of our clients come to us after an evaluation felt incomplete, inaccurate, or not reflective of their real-life experience.

If something didn’t sit right, it’s worth taking a closer look.

SECOND OPINION GUIDE

When to Seek a Second Opinion

A second opinion may be helpful if:

  • You were told you or your child are “not autistic,” but concerns remain

  • PDA was dismissed or not considered

  • The evaluation felt rushed, surface-level, or overly standardized

  • The conclusions don’t match day-to-day functioning

  • You received a diagnosis but no meaningful explanation or next steps

  • Recommendations felt generic or not neurodiversity-affirming

  • You aren’t sure how to talk with your child about their diagnosis (Self-understanding and self-advocacy at any age can change the whole picture!)

YOUR OPTIONS

Second Opinion Options

Not everyone needs a full re-evaluation. We offer flexible options depending on your goals, prior testing, and what information is already available.

Comprehensive Autism Re-Evaluation

A full, in-depth evaluation to clarify diagnosis, profile, and support needs. This is often recommended when prior assessments were limited or unclear.

Targeted Autism / PDA Assessment

Focused testing to fill in gaps from a previous evaluation—without repeating unnecessary components.

Record Review & Consultation

A detailed review of prior reports, combined with a consultation to:

  • Clarify or reinterpret findings

  • Identify missed patterns (especially related to PDA or nuanced autism presentations)

  • Provide specific, actionable recommendations

A More Nuanced, Neurodiversity-Affirming Approach

Second opinions are intended to provide clarity and understanding about a person’s strengths and needs. Once we understand a person’s profile, we can hone in on the best approaches, adaptations, and treatments to support their success.

Our approach is:

  1. Neurodiversity-affirming

  2. Clinically rigorous and individualized

  3. Especially attuned to profiles that are frequently overlooked (including PDA, internalized presentations, and complex co-occurring conditions)
